I qualified as a Physiotherapist in 1999 from Christian Medical College which is one of the best hospitals in India. Since qualification, I have gained experience in various specialties in physiotherapy. My experience in rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy and adults with strokes and head injury drove me to pursue a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation in 2005.
My journey as a physiotherapist in the UK began in the year 2005 in a private special school in Bexhill, for young adults in transition. It has been a challenging yet satisfying 16 yrs with increased knowledge and skill in the field of Rehabilitation. I moved to Leeds in 2009 and have been working in the NHS since then with adults with neurological condition with special interest in young adults during transition. Seeing them progress from school to independent living/vocation is rewarding.
My interest in research and passion in rehabilitation has led me to pursue further research, exploring the physical functional abilities in adults with Cerebral Palsy. As a physiotherapist I’ve always emphasised evidence based practice.
I joined Ilkley Physiotherapy in 2010 to explore rehabilitation aspects in the private sector. I love working in the community due to the challenges it throws at me. I specialise in seeing children and young adults with neurological conditions with particular emphasis on self-management. I also have special interest and experience in providing hydrotherapy in this clientele.
Apart from physiotherapy I enjoy spending time with my 20 month old daughter who is a live wire and keeps me on my toes. I may end up writing a book on negotiating with children and how to lose the battle! I also love traveling.
